Drs. Atmaram and Sushila Gawande formed SESA in 1992 with the goal of supporting students and education SESA has played a vital role in developing GSG College.

In addition, SESA has supported students and education in Southeastern Ohio, USA, where Drs. Atmaram and Sushila Gawande have lived for the past 40 years, and which is one of the poorest regions of the United States. Here are a few examples of the support provided by SESA in Ohio:
Establishment of Drs. Ram and Sushila Gawande Chair in Indian Religion and Philosophy
Project grants for collaborations between Ohio University and GSG College
Student scholarships to children of police officers and firefighters
Emergency loans to Ohio University students for books and tuition
Assistance to international students at Ohio University and Hocking College
