Department of Zoology

  About department

The department is established in 1990. The department is now well equipped and well furnished with Under Graduate and Post Graduate Section as well as university recognized research laboratory for Ph.D. The subject combination is Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry at UG level and Molecular Biology at P.G level. We have been imparting excellent guidance to the researchers through our well furnished and well equipped research laboratory, as the department is well established with four laboratories of total 6000 sq. ft. area, faculties are running various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in addition to the academic and the research domain.
Presently we are extending our help and services to the farmers and farm labour community under various extension and consultancy services related to the crop pest control and Vermicompost. Viewing the financial and social status of community of the area, the Department plan to serve economically poor research scholars of the area. Many research scholars have completed their Ph.D. work in the department. The department has always been making its tune with the recent research activities that has been running on global platform. We have been performing research activities, running research projects, presenting research papers in National and International Conferences and symposia as well as publishing research papers in Journals. The Department has also imparted its contributions to enrich the subject by organizing State level and National Conferences and provided the plate form for students, scientist, researchers, teachers and industrialist.

  Mission Statement

The Department of Zoology is committed to impart excellence in teaching, research and community service related to the fields of life science and sustainable management of the environment in India and particularly Umarkhed region, by providing stimulating and supportive conditions to students and staff community.

  AIM OF THE DEPARTMENT

The prime aim of the department is to inspire students through teaching as well as cherish and improve research attitude to the highest possible standards in Life Science. We , the faculty of the department also aim to communicate our research findings of Limnology , Ethnobiology, Animal Physiology, Avian Biology and Entomology to the community of the area so as to get more and more benefits to them in the widest possible range, thus contributing to the overall integration of scientific knowledge and methods into the fabric of society. At the same time we aim to make tune with nationwide global research activities since the establishment of the dept. Therefore we plan our activities in both rural and global contexts.
