The Department is established in 1966. The pioneer member & the head of Dept. was Prof M D Kolhe. Under his guidance the dept. is flourished. After the superannuation of Prof Kolhe, Prof D T Mule had taken the charge & after his superannuation Prof M M Battalwar had precided over the chair. He has given the dynamic shape to the dept. After Prof Sonawane’s going back to his mother institute. Prof M B Kadam took the charge of the dept. as a Head Under his guidance and far sighted vision Prof P D Jadhav, P N Deshmukh, K S Navsagare are working hard to strengthen the dept. Presently the dept. has well equipped and well furnished lab. The faculties in the dept. have been working hard in the field of academic, research and community services.
          Faculties have created a quite conducive atmosphere in the knowledge imparting process hence have been achieving excellent academic result. One minor research project  is completed & two are on the way of completion In addition to academic activities, the department runs various practices such as book bank scheme, industrial visit, agricultural visit & sportsman incentive scheme. The dept. has organized a National conference in the field of banking to  make its tune with recent knowledge and to make the platform available for researchers and scholars.

Faculties are working on various research aspects and completed many research activities some research activities. The faculties Prof P D Jadhav completed his MRP & two MRPs are ongoing. The field selected for the research by the faculties are  “Agricultural Credit Society – small & marginal farmers, “Analhysis of economic problems of blue collars community of Yavatmal District” “Performance of co-operative banks and its analysis.
